NaNoWriMo Day 8 Recap: All the Words

Apparently I should have save the “On Fire” tag for yesterday! Because yesterday, folks, I wrote over 5,000 words Yup. I did. And how, you may ask, did I stay concentrated for so long? Well, I did a reward system. I am, as mentioned in a previous post, finally reading the Percy Jackson series and was getting ready to start the fourth book. And after Tuesday, all I wanted to do was curl up and read. So I made a deal with myself. For every 100 words I wrote, I got to read one chapter. 20 chapters later, plus 2 chapters into the next book, I was about 2500 words in (because, really, who stops at just 100 words?). So then I progressed to my second reward system. 5 minutes of movie. Pause. Write 300 words. Continue. Yup, right up until I hit that beautiful 5,000 work mark! Do you have any tips, rewards, or tricks you do to make yourself write more?

  1. I couldn’t possibly work like that 🙂 being interrupted every hundred words or so by some reward and then having to start again would be as bad as starting fresh with a blank page every time!
