Lost Moments

I learned a new form of poetry from my Writer’s Digest magazine. It’s called Catena Rondo, and I just wrote a poem using it. It’s a little rough, but I’m still kind of proud of doing it! See below and try not to judge too hard. 🙂

They say you can never go back
A moment lost is gone forever
It stands before me and does not stir
They say you can never go back

A moment lost is gone forever
Somehow those moments statues form
Before me stood the past to mourn
A moment lost is gone forever

Somehow those moments statues form
So life brings salty tears
a river with all my fears
Somehow those moments statues form

So life brings salty tears
I watch but cannot move
Still eyes look to disapprove
So life brings salty tears

I watch but cannot move
Lost moments play before me
My heart clenched in agony
I watch but cannot move

Lost moments play before me
Loves gone, decisions made
hearts broken, lives disarrayed
Lost moments play before me

Loves gone, decisions made
I can't escape though hard I try
I can't back away so fall and cry
Loves gone, decisions made

I can't escape though hard I try
To my past I cannot go back
so forward go, though courage I lack
I can't escape though hard I try

To my past I cannot go back
Forward momentum brings sun to the tears
Drying up that river of fears
To my past I cannot go back

Forward momentum brings sun to the tears
I learned a lesson that lasts a lifetime
Facing failures brings back sunshine
Forward momentum brings sun to the tears

I learned a lesson that lasts a lifetime
They say you can never go back
So go forward, though courage you lack
I learned a lesson that lasts a lifetime

They say you can never go back
A moment lost is gone forever
It stands before me and does not stir
They say you cannot never go back
