You may have seen a difference in my blog if you tried to access it yesterday – or you may not have. I am not sure how it works if you have it bookmarked or on your reader. **shrug**. Nonetheless, there HAVE been significant changes, which I am actually pretty excited about.
- It SHOULD be starting to look like an actual website. I have added a temporary homepage explaining some of the changes, current and upcoming. And as part of that, I have purchased an actual domain, so my website is now officially forestidylls.com. Weird how that $18 a year makes me feel like I have arrived in the world. . .oh, you may also have noticed that I changed anything that said “forestidyls” to “forestidylls” with two “lls”. While I know technically it can be spelled either way, I feel like two “ll”s is more proper and more denotes the peaceful, idyllic setting I am going for than an epic poem.
- I changed the name of my website from “A Walk in the Forest” to “Idyllwood”. I’ve been saving the name “Idyllwood” for something special for . . . well, longer than I can remember. I don’t even remember when I came up with it, but to me, it denotes the ultimate haven of peace, inspiration, and hope, and I always thought it would someday be the name of one of my houses. Then, the other day, I realized what it really was – it was the name of my writing world. This website, my writing room, my . . . space. It is just my world. So, I’ve decided to share that with all of you by renaming my website and blog as such. I hope you don’t mind too much, but I almost feel like it describes so much more what I meant even originally when I named this place “A Walk in the Forest” – because what that really meant was tranquility, idealism, romanticism – all the things that my kingdom of Idyllwood signifies.
Anyway – I am pretty excited for the changes and I hope you don’t mind rejoicing along with me!
Along the more writing side of things. . . yesterday felt like my first “official” writing day because it was the first business day I’ve been off where my husband wasn’t also off and therefore it wasn’t a quasi-vacation. I actually sat down in my chair at 8:30ish and got to work. I didn’t even play phone games first! Which, I am ashamed to say, really does signify how excited I was. I don’t feel like the day was particularly productive, but I think it still set a good foundation. First, I came up with a schedule (which I’m already breaking), and worked on establishing this as an actual website, and worked on editing my book for about an hour. So, it felt like at least a good START, and I think with that foundation, I’ll do much better today.
I am so excited to see what this month brings!
