I know I haven’t posted a real post in awhile. And yes, it means what it usually does – I haven’t been writing since July. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to – I’ve just been insanely busy. I haven’t had a chance to write, read, post, or keep up with friends. This past week, the only evening I wasn’t doing something was Tuesday and even that isn’t completely true because it was spent trying to halfway clean up a house that has fallen to pieces during this somehow-very-busy-season-and-yet-I-can’t-quite-remember-what-I’ve-been-doing.
I do, however, currently have my hair up in rag curls because . . . *drum roll please* . . .I’m going to a Jane Austen ball tonight! That’s right! My husband, as an anniversary celebration and because I would have made him anyway, is bringing me to a ball that is fashioned after the Jane Austen era balls – complete with encouragement to wear regency garb and we’ve been taking English Country dancing lessons in preparation. While I can’t afford an actual costume/authentic outfit for either of us, I did manage to hodge-podge together some pieces to make us look like we are at least trying. It is being held in Gadsby’s Tavern where, according to our dance instructor who is also part of the Alexandria Historical Society, George Washington himself attended two balls. And our musicians are going to sit in a little balcony above us! Yes, it is going to be fun. 😀
Also, I’ve decided to try seriously to get one thing published before the end of the year. Whether it is another poem, short story, or something else, I don’t care what – but I feel the need to have just one more tiny thing published before I turn 30 and feel like my life is over.
Anyway. That’s it for now. I know you have been waiting with bated breath for this update, so you are welcome.
Here is an ending piece of encouragement for you:
