About Me
Hi! My name is Jacinta Meredith, and I am a storyteller. I’ve been writing stories since I was eight years old, and in 2020, I resigned from my job as an analyst in DC to step out in faith and pursue writing full-time. Let me tell you – it has been a journey of trust. While I’m still querying my historical fiction books in hopes of traditional publication, I’ve had multiple short stories published and won the 2023 Genesis award for Historical Fiction! My stories explore finding hope through hardship and looking for peaceful moments when times are difficult.
What does Forest Idylls Mean?
Although we often feel like we are in a forest going through life, there are idylls all around us.
Idylls refers to an idyllic place. Someplace peaceful, joyful, and idealistic. As we traipse through the trees, stumbling over ruts and pitfalls, wondering if we’ll ever get out, shimmering rays of sunshine and gurgling brooks are dipping through the forest, finding their way over the same hurdles, but creating beauty as they do so.
And that’s what I want to do. My goal in writing is not necessarily to shield people from life’s struggles, but to let them see the hope shining through it. The sunshine through the forest.

So who am I, really?
I am a passionate introvert, who loves writing, reading, cross-stitching, and all things Victorian and Edwardian. I also have an affinity for historical fashion. My biggest struggle is fighting fear. Fear of the future, of the unknown, and of failing (oh, and spiders, of course).
My ambition in life is to climb the Alpine Path, dedicating all to the One who created me and my passion for writing.

"Then whisper, blossom, in thy sleep How I may upward climb The Alpine Path, so hard, so steep, That leads to heights sublime. How I may reach that far-off goal Of true and honored fame And write upon its shining scroll A woman's humble name." - Part of “The Fringed Gentian,” Author Unknown
