Quiet Mornings

Okay, so first of all, this is a judgment free zone. Second, I know there are a lot of issues with AI, but there are some things that I’ve learned it can actually really help with – case in point, I asked it to help me create a social media growth plan based on my brand – which I have to say it did very well. Which brings me to my actual point.

For Day 3 in a 30 day plan, ChatGPT suggested I put together a reel showing a quiet, beautiful morning with slow motions and relaxing music, and recommended the following for my caption: “I’ve learned that quiet mornings are not an escape from responsibility, but a way of meeting it more faithfully. In slower rhythms, I find room to listen, to breathe, and to remember that God is present even in ordinary moments.”

I loved the idea of the reel. But I looked at that caption and thought, wouldn’t that be nice? But I haven’t learned that lesson yet. In addition, it felt like a lie because the number of times in the last year that I’ve had a quiet morning like the one described is…well, probably none.

So I did the only thing I could do – and, honestly, the only thing you should do with AI. I took the general idea and I turned it into something of my own. I’m pretty proud of the result. If you haven’t already seen it, you should. Go ahead, watch it here.

Did you like that ending? I thought it was hilarious. But you know what? I totally agree with one thing that AI said – God IS present in ordinary moments. But those ordinary moments don’t always have to be a quiet, peaceful morning in which you have time to delve deep into prayer – those ordinary moments can also be when your baby looks up and grins at you. When you are working so hard to keep up on life, you forget to get dressed until after noon. When you forget to drink that cup of coffee you poured hours before. God is still there.

So, this actually ended up being a great reminder for me. AI wanted me to post about God being present in ordinary moments that look perfect. And there is a place for that – I fully believe in slowing down, particularly in a busy life so that you can have time to notice those idyllic moments that get you through life. But God is present in ALL the ordinary moments, including the messy ones. And as for MY next Forest Idylls moment, I’ll cling to that grin Flynn gave us after slaying his dragon when he wakes up for the millionth time tonight.
