You know that feeling when you’ve been doing something halfway for awhile and you are getting impatient to just buckle down and get it done? It feels like it has been that way with my writing and even reading for awhile. Life just gets in the way! There’s always something to clean, an errand to run, another post to write or put together and before you know it, you forget where you were in the book you were reading and haven’t opened the story you are writing in weeks.
I’ll admit it – I’m a little weary right now. But I’m especially weary of having so many dozens of stories floating in my head and that tiny feeling of despair that I’ll never get them all down. So, I’ve decided to take a break from doing blog posts until January. Not just blog posts – I’m going to put a hold on my newsletter as well, and minimize my social media posts and my goal is to spend all day alternating between writing, editing, and reading. Really, all I’m doing is just taking off the pressure to build my platform – as much fun as it is to put together information on fashion and trails and all of that – it just feels like it is time to concentrate on the craft God has given me for a period of time. And I’m in between queries right now (since the number of agents currently open to entries for Christian Historical Fiction is EXTREMELY SMALL), so it feels like a good time to do it, especially with holidays coming up and NaNo and all that.
I will still be doing the podcast, so keep an eye out for new episodes! And my hope is that by the time I come back in January, I will have completed editing one novel, writing and editing a novelette, and finished writing the next book I am planning to query (ambitious, much?)!
Until next time, thank you all my readers! And don’t forget to take some time yourselves to finally finish that project you’ve been putting on the back burner – every once in awhile, it’s okay to have some “you” time.
