NaNoWriMo Day After Recap: Joy in Achievement

Let’s see, what was I doing the day after NaNo? Hmm…right! Okay, I was at my brother’s house and we were prepping for his 3-year-old’s birthday party! And how could I think about updating posts when there was an adorable blond, curly-haired, blue-eyed little girl running around reminding me of the little girl version of Merida?

I am disappointed that I didn’t finish my book earlier in the month and get more words in – but I know that is my over-achievement side kicking in since I should simply be proud I finished 50,000 words. It is a good reminder, actually, that you should celebrate what you have achieved instead of thinking of what more you should have/might have/ could have and thereby taking away the joy of what has happened. After all, it’s the little things in life that bring joy, right? And not appreciating them fully is usually what gets me looking at the trees surrounding me instead of the idyllic spots.
