NaNoWriMo Day 27 Recap: A History of Idaho

Another day of driving all day yesterday resulted in about 700 words written. But, you know, it is hard to actually write in the car – there are so many distractions!! So I’ll still take all the praise for a job well done. So there.

In other news…it is amazing, isn’t it, how writing one book (especially a sequel or companion novel) can highlight mistakes in already supposedly completed books. In this case…it was Idaho. Yup. It would seem that my main character has decided to move to Idaho, which resulted in me looking up transportation to Idaho, which resulted in a news search mentioning when Idaho became a state…which was NOT until the 1890s. Which resulted in more searches…and long story short, I cannot believe it never occurred to me in my previous book to check when the states the Oregon Trail passed through actually became known by those names??!!?? So…a few corrections might need to be made since Idaho was actually not known by Idaho in 1859…better to catch now than after publication, though, right?
