NaNoWriMo Day 25 Recap: Trees – Christmas and Dangerous

Today was weird…I’m not entirely sure why I didn’t get words written…I woke up late from a dream in which most of my teeth had been knocked out and broken pieces that remained kept falling and filling my mouth. So that was fun.

At some point I made the filling for the stuffed acorn squash for dinner. Otherwise, we went Christmas Tree shopping with the in-laws! Well, Daniel and my father-in-law. Found a perfect Christmas tree, got back, and a few of the guys went out to cut down a dead tree in the yard…except…it didn’t go well. Let’s just say that at the end, I tried to help, but my limited strength is no match for a tree, Daniel sprinted to the road to save a truck from being crushed, the tree ended up in the street, and the fire department helped us clear away debris and direct traffic…and the mailbox got crushed. Fun times. I got a horrible asthma attack for the first time in ages thanks to a mix of the cold, rushing to clear branches that were too large for me from the road, and dust from the chainsaw. I’m still coughing a little (I have cough-variant asthma, though I do get shortness of breath sometimes too). But at least no one got hurt!

Anyway, then, eventually, we ate, joked (with a note of seriousness) about being grateful no one was currently in jail for involuntary manslaughter, went to see the incredible Christmas lights at Rhema, came back, played a game, and as people went to bed/went home, at 11:52, I fit in three minutes of writing and got in just over 200 words! See, people? Just trying counts. You might not get much, but it is better than not trying at all.
